Friend or Foe

quote-friends-i-have-made-whom-envy-must-commend-but-not-one-foe-whom-i-would-wish-a-friend-charles-churchill-365387In the world of social-climbing one has to be aware of the frenemy, a person who poses as a friend but who is actually a foe. It does not occur to some of us to monitor our ‘friends’ for envious behavior because after all they are our friends. We have been in the trenches of life together, they would never, yet there are examples after examples of people being taken by the very person who claimed to befriend them. Often they themselves are confused by their place in your life. They lose their perspective as you rise in success seemingly leaving them behind.

My own gullibility has gotten me in trouble many times. I would believe someone when they said they were for me only to be so disappointed when they were not. The beginning of a dedicated spiritual life can put one in this kind of vulnerable position when the community you are a part of has a deeper darker side in the acquisition of wealth, power or fame. We have all watched as one teacher after another gets caught up in the trap laid out to separate those who would think to take advantage of people sincerely looking for wisdom or help. It’s a slippery slop when a community does not stay with the spiritual work that got them to an elevated place to begin with.

We here the words karma is a b*tch, the reality is that the negative karma you are invoking can be the karma that brings you down. There really isn’t enough money on the planet or apparent power to keep a person from paying what is due. Even Jesus had to contend with Satan in the garden as a human displaying power and he rightfully gave the creator his/her due. There was no fooling that master teacher. How about you? Not a one of us in immune to flattery but the wise keep their head down and their butts on their meditation mats until the spiritual truths radiate through each and every cell. This is why it is a spiritual journey and it takes many lifetimes to acquire this level of certainty and the ability to look darkness in the eye without fear.

They say the unexamined life is not worth living and the same can be said about our friends. If you have become successful, or are on the rise be careful of those who would befriend you. A tried and true friend can be turned by envy, anybody can. There is nothing here but the wisdom that is found when the light of your eyes unveils truths. Each person must be met on the level they are at, anything more assumptions or otherwise will just not do. A human is a human. The enlightened soul radiates the light of awareness and understanding followed by compassion and will, they cannot be fooled. Walking the path of light is still an action and each person you meet is there to either instruct you, bend you, or lead you. Use your own spiritual monitor of truth to discern.

Know thy self, and then know thy friends!

the cruelty of humanity

It’s hard to imagine the mind of a human who sees no value in another human. When a person or set of people actually believe they are better than anyone else. How does that even happen? My mind is blown over the audacity of the man who kidnapped the girls from their school. I cannot even wrap my mind around the feelings of their mothers. All thought they were doing a good thing and a really bad thing happened.

Everyday a child is harmed by another human. A woman is violated a man killed all for someone’ belief or need for power. We live in this same world and that thought has me looking on Craigslist for the housing on Mars, there has to be another place we can go with our precious children so they can grow up safe and sound. It’s no wonder so many children are being home schooled, my own grandson is home schooled. His school became an unsafe place for him, are you kidding me. What kind of world is this?

I think of all the near rape incidents of my own life knowing I was one of the lucky ones who got away, so many other women do not and did not. The small children who are sexually abused by a family member or member of the clergy, all people they are meant to trust. How do we trust anyone at all? Big sigh!

So we must fight, each of us in our own way. We must fight to bring the light of understanding and love to those whose eyes are closed and hearts filled with prejudice. Ignorance will never work in the new world we are building by teaching our children there is good in the world. We have to teach each other to be more loving to those who would scare us and those we despise. We have to have the mental strength to know we are right, those who see God everywhere and in everything. And we must stay the course while the pendulum swings way into the dark it will swing back.

Because the dark is no match for the light and just the littlest candle can break the darkest dark. Each of us who pray for humanity, circle the globe with light are the light workers who will continue to bring in the new age of enlightenment. The dark gets its day but the light will always win. Love is all there is and love is all we need. I pray for the children! I pray for humanity!

learn to question everything, make your truth yours

As part of a spiritual community and a teacher I am either asking questions or answering them. I have a drive to know and I am not so interested in what you know if you have the mentality that what you know is the truth. How do you know its the truth? We have all been lied to at one time or another, and half the time you had no idea you were being snowed. Other times you couldn’t imagine that asking a question would make a liar out of the person you are asking the question to as you watch them lie right to you. I for one hate that!

Have the stones to tell me you don’t know rather than trying to impress me with your so-called knowledge. In the end its my responsibility to make sure the who I am asking the question is a valid source and not someone looking to impress me or get something from me. It really makes me mad when it comes from a so-called spiritual teacher. But then no one said a spiritual teacher was wise did they? That is one of those unexamined assumptions that make an ass out of you and me.

As a teacher myself and the butt of the end of a person who claimed to know, once I knew they didn’t know a thing it became my job to find out for myself. I have the discernment of an adult and enough wisdom to make up my own mind. Oh that would be called freedom. We as people would rather be told than search for ourselves. The media tells us what it wants, the church tells us what ever it wants and more spiritual communities have fallen apart when the truth they stood behind was not the same truth they lived by. You must be a vegetarian, celibate, bald, poor, but not us we are self realized and can do what we want, I mean what we are led to do as per the instructions of our teacher the one we pay big money to and that’s not you.

If we are ever going to grow in wisdom we must turn on our internal truth meter. I mean really if someone told you that the sun wasn’t going to come up tomorrow how difficult would that be to disbelieve? Yet we are constantly allowing someone to lie to us about something. Why ask if these pants make you look fat when you probably already know? If you need some love ask for some love, be honest about what you need and less manipulating. When we step into our truth it will make it easier to say what needs to be said rather than what everyone wants to hear. Of course there is no climate problem on the planet, come on people.

I am advocating for a truthful society. That’s where I want to live.

So question everything until you know it as your truth. Trust your gut to tell you what is real and call out the person lying right to you. They will never mess with you again and you will have activated your own internal truth meter, sometimes refered to as a bullsh*t detector. Use it or lose it.
