Spiritual discipline

Unknown

I use to describe spiritual discipline as getting up early every morning to do my sadhana practice. My sadhana is normally the time I spend chanting as I am not as interested in moving first thing in the morning but I am totally in love with getting up early to chant. I have been a devotee of chanting for 20 years now. I love to chant!

I chant Naam, which is the holy word or words that sang, whispered or thought, elevate the listener/chanter. Through the natural law of osmosis we know that that which you spend most of your time doing or who/what you constantly surround yourself with, will be reflected in your daily life. It is also reflected in your level of happiness and overall success. This is why we do Naam!

Chanting Naam, or the continuous repetition of the sacred mantras over time  bring increased light not just to our bodies but down to our cells. Chanting allows us to accumulate light giving us increased chances for continuous health and prosperity. The more light in the body the higher the vibration. It is my belief and experience that sickness and jealousy, darkness and lack cannot live in a body filled with light or a affect a being who spends time merging with the sacred sounds and/or names of God.

These Divine mantras allows us to feel within our hearts our true state of being, united with the highest vibration. We were meant to live our life with our hearts wide open filled with love but the traumas of our lives and the effects of the body of pain over our lifetimes keep us trapped in a life of false darkness, filled with constant lack and conditional if any love. Chanting Naam allows us a river of higher sound vibration to ride opening our hearts filling them with love so we may merge with the Divine Light in our soul projecting love peace and light to beings everywhere.

But chanting isn’t enough. Understanding the overwhelming influence of the body of pain, its naysaying negativity, its dooms day predictions of ‘you’ll never be good enough’ means we must carry our spiritual discipline into our daily lives. We must teach ourselves to be the master of our emotions. We must live everyday as students of the divine spiritual wisdom putting the wisdom to work rather than being victim to the many unseen forces influencing us. As we work through our studies we learn about these unseen forces and living  in a constant state of awareness we know we can make these forces work for us in our endeavors rather than fall victim to them.

Spiritual discipline is a constant practice until the wisdom walks with you and you become the wisdom not just a student of it. You know, the day the student becomes the master, it is the path we are all walking, yup, all of us! But until that day we must make successes of our lives by implementing the tools laid out for us by the master teachers who have gone before us. It is our job to put spiritual discipline to work.  We must do the work. We must take the steps. We must implement the wisdom. We must take time to increase our vibration through meditation and prayer. We must be driven to be a better human every day.

This is the kind of spiritual discipline we all need to embrace. Working towards being a better humans everyday!

Be sure and watch for the release of my chanting CD Chanting Living Words on 1/20/2015 on CDbaby.com I would love for you to love chanting as much as I do, it changed my life.

Well I did it! This is a picture of my book and chanting CD. It has been a long process and a sometimes painful and frustrating one but I did it. I went through the creative fire and was able to produce something that I hope will help many lives. This project pushed and pulled me through many emotional peaks and valleys but it also forced me to grow on so many levels and has become the foundational platform from which my next work will be created.

I’ve talked before about the book. It’s about my journey through a nearly 4 year illness and what I did to recover. The story is very important to me because at the time of my illness the doctors were never really able to determine what was wrong with me. I was very ill, in a great deal of pain, very weak unable to get out of bed. I ended up having about 6 surgeries and was in and out of the hospital a great deal. Not to mention that during the same time I was so ill my Grandmother dies, my Mom is diagnosed with stage 4 non-smokers lung cancer and she dies, soon followed by my husband leaving me. By the time I turn 50 I had pretty much had enough of life. But the spiritual fire that had been stoked by my long illness was still lit and the teacher I worked with while I was so sick told me I should write a book, so I did. And because of the energetic healing belief I have in the power of chanting, it made recording a chanting album next on the list.

I am as grateful to my teacher for helping me to recover from my illness as I am to his pushing me to finish and publish my book and for helping me get past the sheer terror of recording a CD. But I did it! I am so proud of what I did and that has been a bit tricky as well. Any time one of us steps forward we can find others milling around blocking our ability to pass, negative well wishers, jealous and stuck in their body of pain wanting to take everyone down with them. It makes celebrating your accomplishments feel like an exercise in self indulgence or something you wish to avoid.

But life is to be celebrated. Most people are genuinely happy for someone else’s accomplishments and successes. It helps us to remember that all things are possible and when we are willing to put in the work we too can make our dreams a reality. Celebrating a finished accomplishment is an important part of the cycle created when the idea was first born. Remember again that most people are filled with ideas, one after another of brilliant ideas, and not a lick of follow through. It takes work, and lots of perseverance to make something happen. You have to be willing to fail, and fail again, it can be humiliating but it’s movement, it’s action, it’s doing…it’s life.

We need to do creative work in what ever capacity it comes to us. Whether we are writers, painters, homemakers, landscape artists, people who like to color, being creative in whatever capacity allows the creative force of God to move through you. And really, let me tell you, when you are in that creative zone, in the fire, it is just like they say, time stops, nothing matters, just you and the work. You will feel God, even if it just feels like the best rush of good feelings you have ever felt. In allowing the flow of the creator to move through you is also to remember that creator also works through us and our creative endeavors become the teaching experience and tools used to push stories, and new information through the masses.

Sit in a Church with paintings of the stations of the Cross, watch the unfolding drama of the story of Christ and tell me you can not see what torture was at hand, what sacrifice was made. These paintings are a meditation on faith, without saying a word. In the creative flow of images and words, songs and chants is the ability to lift people, move people, inform people and offer a glimpse of the vast concept that is our creator. We must do our work in order that God may be heard through the masses, in voices that the masses understand. Each of us has a unique voice and way to tell a story that reaches every soul in a vastly different way. So we need everybody sharing so the wisdom may move to uplift our brothers and sisters. All of our voices together become a choir singing to God.

nothing is ever done

One of the fallacies taught in my childhood was the fairy tale idea of happily ever after, or the Disney movie version of cut as the wholesome story concludes with a stellar finish. These fairy tales spoke of a world of balance and the triumph of dark over evil, followed by that’s a wrap let the happiness commence. But, for many life is more like a horror movie with a never ending terrain wrought with difficulties and challenges no one consciously wants to face with no end in sight and accompanied by the constant fear of the noise in the basement. None of us wants to go to the basement and check out ‘the noise”, we all know what a noise in the basement means, no need to invite the boogie man into the house. In the view of the scary cat there is always a boogeyman in the basement, no matter how ‘safe’ you say it is down there!

Nothing removes the fear of the boogeyman like meeting him and destroying him yourself, problem is there will always be another boogeyman to wrestle. This life we are leading is based on the premise that we have made this journey consciously in order to overcome, to battle, to slay, to grow, in whatever way our greater conscious self sees fit. We are willing students in a giant school each playing our role for others in our family and our friend/colleague circles. Every relationship you are in provides a platform that the universe uses to help you overcome weaknesses in your character, reestablish karmic balance, and offering many opportunities for spiritual growth, or in other words, many boogeymen to deal with. Every event of your life, self-created or fated, is another path the universe uses for helping you to know and understand your character and how you do or don’t maintain balance in your own life. Think about how much about someone’s character is generally revealed during times of sickness and stress. Once shy helpful Betty turns into viper Betty under stress, clear the path her she comes…

Do you do that?

It would help us as students of life and especially those who would call themselves spiritual seekers, to understand that nothing is ever finished in our evolution, in our becoming an agent of light, a person that stands away from the masses as the key stone of balance not a rod of conflict. It takes moral fortitude and a rigorous spiritual discipline to realize that the traumatic events in our lives are happening in a way to stimulate our growth and reliance on a power that is greater than that of a human. It is a divine flow of energy that resides and moves within us that can be manipulated and used by each of us for the betterment of ourselves, our families and finally our world. But it will never be complete because of the beauty and grace of the creative spiritual energy. Through our continual evolution we are blessed with the ability to be more, infinitely more.

In our pursuit of merging with the Divine we become what we call in Universal Kabbalah the 3rd pillar. We as spiritual students and leaders stand as a neutralizing force to others polarizing forces. Wherever we go, wherever we are, it is our vibration that helps bring light to every place. We become the change we want to see in the world and we do it by becoming the light bearers. We become an active part of the larger picture when we realize this life is not about us, our singular tiny self, it is about the evolution of what is possible in life. We do this by the very elevated way in which we live, how we move consciousness ourselves, this is our part of the great work.

But don’t be fooled, the great work will never ever be finished, it will gloriously evolve!

A new year

Unknown

Optimism is in the air as the calendar spins to a new page representing the beginning of a new year. The happy feelings of the holiday help us to feel ready to make those changes we have been so hoping we would make. The new habits we have put off in favor of a few more days of automatic living. Aww the tangled web we weave in our desire to fulfill our animal nature pretending we are not catering to a lower version of ourselves. We know we need to change but before we are even aware of it, we reach for the sugar to put in our coffee, a chair to take a load off, and down the escalator rather than the stairs. Nothing changes until our desire becomes the change we seek. Until then our animal nature will be a harsh task master and a virtual silent partner running our lives as we do nothing but be led by our desires, succumbing to our base nature, wanting what we want, when we want it.

The real desire for change comes from an almost primordial place. Sometimes not even death pushes one towards change. When we are truly ready for change-we change, not a minute before. Face it, you know it and so do I. Ask any addict, addicted to anything. Before that moment, that conscious decision to make a change, nothing can change us. Thinking so, pretending that by saying you are going to change you will, is like believing you can start a diet and put a plate of cookies out, believe me your diet will be postponed. Only the fast and clear desire for change begets change!

I have been working in the spiritual world with manifesting evidence. Paying closer attention to the material world to how God is manifesting my desires on the material plane. When I pay attention I see the Divine at work, the store had my creamer in stock, the traffic lights worked in my favor, the book I wanted was actually on the shelf, seems small but each act of fulfillment is the divine in action, manifesting the evidence of his work in my life. When I look at how it manifests I see this common thread that can help others. Explaining about manifesting evidence, can allow others to see how it works in their own life. Working with the Divine Spiritual Wisdom found in Universal Kabbalah allows one a tangible way to see God is action.

It’s a new year and my goal is to help others see the possibility of seeing the unseen influence that are dictating our every moment. When we pay close enough attention the universe and its symbolic language is trying to communicate with us. Think of how much easier life would be if you had listened to that small voice that told you to turn left at the light, and if you had actually done that you would have avoided the traffic jam you are now sitting in. Sometimes the wisdom of a gentler ease in our lives can be found in simply paying more attention to signs around you not to mention that voice in your head.

It’s a new year and a new chance to work with the universal energies rather than fighting against them. Awaken yourself to live in consciousness and the world will work with you. Here’s to 2015 and the spreading of peace on Earth!
